Debt and Financial Capability Adviser– Seafarers' Benefits Advice Line (SBAL)

SBAL is a unique service for seafarers and their dependents in the U.K.  We have secured new funding to set up a debt/financial capability project, to tackle debt and financial exclusion in seafaring communities.

We wish to recruit an adviser with experience of providing multiple debt advice and the ability to undertake financial capability work. Financial Capability training will be provided. The successful candidate must have an understanding of current issues affecting seafarers.

Salary: S02, spinal points 32 - 34, currently £27,758 - £29,285 inc. OLW (inflationary increase pending). Full-time post based in Central Greenwich.

Summary

To provide money advice service to tenants of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council through our Tenants Rent Arrears Project and our Homelessness Prevention Project

Detailed description

The job entails providing an efficient and effective money advice service to vulnerable people in the local area, within the aims, policies and principles of the CAB service. In addition you will provide support to generalist advisers helping them to deliver a first level money advice service.

Stevenage Citizens Advice Bureau has been awarded a major new contract by the Legal Services Commission to provide specialist telephone advice in debt, employment, housing and benefits. We are recruiting people to be part of our rapidly growing telephone advice team providing top quality advice.

Senior Debt Caseworker (up to £25,412 per annum)
Debt Caseworker (up to £23,651 per annum)

The applicant should have experience in some or all of the following: the consumer credit act, contract law, civil litigation and insolvency and bankruptcy law.

Applicants must have recent experience of advice in the relevant legal area, be computer literate, have excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills, and be able to manage their own caseload in line with LSC standards.
Applicants for the Senior Caseworker role must also have experience of support and supervision of a team.
